People often marvel over the last spoken words of some of the more important people from history.

So what about the most important person to ever live? What were the last words of Jesus Christ?

This seven part series by Pastor Rick Warren is all about the last seven public statements spoken by Jesus during his crucifixion. These sermons dive into each statement individually so that you learn exactly what Christ promised to us when he made the ultimate sacrifice.

Sermons included:

  1. The Word of Forgiveness is the first of the seven last words of Christ. This sermon talks about the harmful effects of guilt and how Jesus would want us to handle the guilt that we feel in our lives.
  2. The Word of Assurance looks at the five truths that Jesus gave the thief who looked to him for forgiveness during his crucifixion. These five truths tell us what we must do to be saved by God.
  3. The Word of Love is arguably the most important of Jesus' last words. It gives four ways we can act on the most important lesson that Christ could teach us.
  4. The Word of Substitution explains how Jesus became our substitute on the cross, taking on our sin and pouring God's goodness into us. It goes on to explain how we should respond to show our appreciation for such a glorious act of substitution.
  5. The Word of Humanity talks about how Christ's thirst on the cross was an example of the humanity he shares with us, and tells us how we can satisfy our own spiritual thirst.
  6. The Word of Victory goes over what Jesus meant when he shouted the words "It is finished!". It discusses the five things that Jesus accomplished by finishing his work on the cross.
  7. The Word of Trust is about the immense amount of trust Jesus had to have in his Father to go through the crucifixion. It gives us four reasons why we can trust God in our own darkest hour.
